I continue to share my finds in free internet archive. This time I wanted to share links to Art Nouveau contemporary source books, published when it was style of the day.

I had luck to visit an exhibition "Organisms" in Gallery of Modern Art in Turin recently, an exhibition dedicated to art inspired by nature and its forms - linking Art Nouveau with contemporary art of today. There were sketches of architect Raimondo d'Aronco for the International Exposition of Modern Decorative Arts, held in Turin in 1902. Two books on this exposition are available in the archive, it is filled with photos of pavilions, interiors, furniture, ceramics, art works. For those who want to get the feeling of what was considered beautiful and modern at the time.

Neseniai lankiausi parodoje "Organizmai" Torino modernaus meno galerijoje. Paroda skirta menui, įkvėptam gamtos ir jos formų - sujungtas Art Nouveau su šiuolaikiniu menu. Joje buvo eksponuoti ir architekto Raimondo d'Aronco eskizai 1902-aisiais Torine vykusiai tarptautinei dekoratyviųjų menų parodai. Knygų apie šią parodą, su paviljonų, eksponuotų interjerų, baldų, indų ir kitų meno kūrinių nuotraukomis, yra prieinama archyve, norintiems įsijausti į tai, kas buvo grožio etalonas ir modernu tuo laikmečiu.

Les idées fixes

Manau, visi turime idėjų, kurios neduoda ramybės ir persekioja. Nežinau, su kuo jos susijusios kitiems žmonėms, bet man vienaip ar kitaip, vis tiek su paišymais, tapymais ir t.t. Viena iš tokių nerimstančių idėjų buvo sukurti audinio raštą, ji gal nebuvo netgi tikra idée fixe, kol nesuradau SpoonFlower tinklapio, kuriame galima užsisakyti audinį pagal norimą raštą (savo, ar išsirinkti iš kitų dizainerių darbų). Tada ir tapo tokia, ta idėja. Ir štai pagaliau galiu pati pačiupinėti jau tą audinį, (beje, kadangi spausdinami audiniai JAV, nuo užsakymo iki atsiėmimo pašte praėjo mėnuo laiko). Kai tiek laiko viskas buvo mano galvoje, netgi sunku tuo patikėti... nors jau savaitę turiu tuos audinius, tad gal jau po truputį priprantu. O kurti raštus man patiko! Tik daug mažiau tikrojo kūrybinio darbo, improvizacijos, kaip aš įpratusi savo šilko tapyboje, nes reikėjo viską kruopščiai suredaguoti kompiuteriu, bet turbūt šitų dviejų dalykų ir lyginti negalima, kažkiek sakyčiau, persimečiau prie mass production, nors dar tik po metriuką abiejų turiu, todėl bent jau kol kas jie vis dar vieninteliai pasaulyje. :)

I think all of us have some ideas that do not let us stay calm and just obsess us. I don't know what those ideas are for other people, but for me, in one way or another, they are always related to drawing, painting etc. One of such obsessive ideas was to create a pattern for a fabric. It wasn't really a fixed idea, until I discovered the site of SpoonFlower, where one can order a design (one's own or created by fellow designers) printed on fabric. Then it became fixed idea. And this is the time now, that I can finally touch the fabric. When it was just an image in my head for so long (by the way, it is printed in US, so it took a month for order to get printed, shipped and arrive to my place), it was even hard to believe I really have it in my hands... even though, now it is already almost a week since I've received them, so maybe i get used to it already little  by little. And I really liked creating patterns! There might be much less of creative work and improvisation in it, compared to my usual silk painting activity, as the bigger part of design I did with my computer. But in any case, those things are different, I did a bit of 'mass production' I'd say, even if yet I have only a meter of each fabric, so it is still quite unique and one of a kind in this world :))

Turbūt įdomu, kaip jie buvo kuriami, įdedu savo piešinukus, kuriuos nuskenavau ir priredagavau abu raštus.

I was exploring the old photos on my computer and I found ones of my school graduating work... Now it doesn't seem so complicated as it seemed then, but quite big. I painted using French LeFranc&Bourgeois silk paint, that I use also today, the acrylic paint that I mixed myself for the contour and I painted on synthetic curtain fiber :) the size shows I was a maximalist at school :)
There are some phrases under each work. :) "Now they lay on my window sill, when I look I remember the sea... we were wading in the rain and collecting the sea shells. A bit further big storm waves were crushing to the open shore".
The work was inspired by my earlier trip to Atlantic ocean in France (even if I wrote the sea, it is originally ocean, but the sea was better rhyming) in Biarritz. At the time we went there I didn't know even the name of town. We were let to wander in town for few hours, so we went to pick some shells from between the stones on the shore and saw the surfers further away. Those views left a very nice memory. That it was Biarritz I got to know only two years later, when I went there together with my friends, during my Erasmus stay in Bordeaux :) even if the second time atmosphere was not so mysterious, the place was fascinating, one photo before the works, to advertise the place ;)

Žiūrinėjau senas nuotraukas kompiuteryje ir suradau savo mokyklos baigiamojo dailės darbo nuotraukas... dabar jis neatrodo toks sudėtingas kaip tada, tačiau vis dėlto didokas, tapyta LeFranc&Bourgeois dažais, kuriuos iki šiol naudoju, pačios maišytu akrilu kaip kontūru ant užuolaidų medžiagos :) buvau gana maksimalistė :)

Yra net ir užrašas po kiekviena dalimi :)

"Dabar jos guli ant palanges. Kai pažiūriu, prisimenu jūrą... Mes braidžiojom lietui lyjant ir rinkom kriaukleles. Šiek tiek toliau į atvirą pakrantę plakėsi didžiulės bangos."

Darbas buvo įkvėptas apsilankymo prie Atlanto vandenyno Prancūzijoje (nors užrašiau jūra, gražiau skambėjo :) ) Biarritz mieste, tuomet net nežinojau pavadinimo, paleisti mieste per lietų su draugais braidžiojom ir rinkom kriaukles tarp akmenų atslūgus vandeniui, ir žiūrėjom kaip toliau plaukioja banglentininkai, man tie vaizdai ir ta diena labai įstrigo. Kad tai Biarritz sužinojau po kelių metų, tiksliau, prieš pusantrų metų, kai teko mokytis Prancūzijoje ir keliauti aplink :) nors tuomet nebuvo tos pačios atmosferos, bet vieta tikrai užburianti... viena nuotraukėlė prieš darbelius, pareklamavimui :)

Notebook adventures / sąsiuvinių nuotykiai

The last lecture of this semester ended recently, so now I took a look of what happenned in my notebooks :) well, actually nothing so special, but today the upcoming holidays came out... the little dwarves came back :D they come to live in the margins of notebooks before Christmas...

Neseniai baigėsi paskutinė paskaita šį semestrą, todėl apžvelgiau, kas gero įvyko mano sąsiuviniuose, iš tiesų, nieko ypatingo, ar labai kūrybingo, bet šiandien vėl išlindo švenčių ir atostogų laukimas... grįžo nykštukai :D kurie visada apsigyvena paraštėse prieš Kalėdas...

the green / žaluma

A little bit of greenness from our kitchen, some wheat grains sprouted... a relief for the eye, when it is so grey outdoors :) and no other bigger news so far... we look forward to holidays... then there will come more freshness :p

Šiek tiek žalumos, iš mūsų virtuvės, mama sudaigino kviečius... atgaiva akiai, kai lauke taip niūru :) o naujienų kol kas jokių... laukiam atostogų... bus daugiau šviežumos :p

Hello, my first message for my new blog :)
Welcome all in my blog :) you can see more of my works, created before opening of this blog in my flickr album (link on the right).
I'm a girl from Kaunas, a city in the heart of Lithuania. I graduated from Kaunas Art School, then studied Political Sciences in Vilnius, the capital, and now came back to my hometown for my master in East Asia Region studies. I'm interested in a lot of things, that are very different or even contradicting at times. I have a not ending list of ideas, but not so much free time to implement, but I don't loose hope that sooner or later I will fullfil all my crazy and not so crazy ideas and plans. :) But here you will not see anything about politics, only my artistic side ;)


Sveiki visi, apsilankę mano bloge! Daugiau mano šilko, modelino ir senesnių darbų galite pasižiūrėti mano flickr albume, nuoroda dešinėje ;) Esu kaunietė, baigiau Kauno dailės gimnaziją, vėliau Vilniuje politikos mokslus, dabar studijuoju VDU Rytų Azijos regiono studijų magistre, domiuosi daugeliu dalykų, kurie kartais atrodo ir vienas kitam priešingi.Turiu be galo daug idėjų ir įkvėpimo, tačiau ne tiek daug laiko, bet vis tikiuosi, kad anksčiau ar vėliau, pavyks įgyvendinti visus crazy ir ne tokius crazy planus :) vis dėlto šitame bloge nerasite nieko apie politiką :D tik mano meniškąją pusę.
