Šilko tapyba - įkvėpimas / Silk painting - inspiration

Šilko tapyboje gėlės turbūt vienas dažniausiai pasitaikančių siužetų. Aš paskutiniu metu irgi pamėgau jas vaizduoti, tik man neįdomu jas piešti realistiškai, jos vis vien praeina pro mano "filtrą". Tas "filtras" įdomus dalykas, tiesiog žiūriu į žiedą ir matau, kaip aš jį nupieščiau. Tai keistokas jausmas, bet malonus, taip nutinka su gėlėm, peizažais, veidais, dažniausiai nutinka savaime ir atrodo kaip toks akimirkos žybsnis, kai pamatau tą stilizuotą "mano stiliaus" vaizdą virš tikrojo. Paskutiniu metu tų vaizdų vis daugėjo ir jie kaupėsi, kol pagaliau nutariau, kad reikia bent dalį jų realizuoti. Vienas iš tokių filtruotų vaizdų yra šilko skarelė su žydinčiu putino krūmu. Pernai pavasarį pamačius žiedus nusifotografavau, nes blykstelėjo piešinio idėja.

Flowers are probably one of most popular subjects in silk painting. I am lately keen of painting flowers as well, just I am somehow not interested in drawing them realistically. They all pass my "filter". That "filter" is an interesting thing, I just look at the blossom and I see how I would draw it. This is a rather bizarre but also pleasant feeling, it happens when I look at flowers, landscapes, faces, usually it just happens and seems like a flash before the eyes, when I see this stylized "my style" image above and together with the real one. Such images were appearing more often and kept accumulating in my head and sketch book, until I decided I have to dedicate time to realize them, and I try to bring them to life one after another. One of such filtered images is a silk scarf with stylized blossoms of snowball tree. Last spring I made a photo of the blossoms after I had this image flash in my head.

Praėjo gan nemažai laiko, atėjo ir kitas pavasaris, bet skarelę nutapiau. :)

Quite a lot of time passed, another spring came, but the scarf is finally realized. :)

Peržiūrėdama savo eskizų knygelę pastebėjau vieną ypač puikų puslapį, kuriame viename sutilpo net penkių šalikėlių mažyčiai eskizai. Nemėgstu daryti didelių eskizų, nebent darbas itin sudėtingas, bet idėjos visada pirmiausia nugula eskizų knygelėj.
Mano eskizų knygelėj daug puslapių ir labai daug tokių nedidelių pasipaišymų, bet kartais ištisi puslapiai niekuo ir nevirsta, nes tiesiog neprisijaukinu tų piešinių arba jie kažkodėl nesuskamba kaip "taip!" galvoje, taigi šitas puslapis tikrai ypatingas. Aplink visi šalikėliai, kurie gimė iš šitų eskiziukų.

Turning the pages of my sketch book I came to realize one particularly nice page, which was filled with littles sketches of five scarves that are all already painted by me. I do not like making big ellaborate sketches, except if the work is really complicated, but the ideas that come to my head always go to sketch book first.
My sketch book is full of pages and there are plenty of such little drawings, but sometimes entire pages do no become anything real, as I do not succeed somehow to finalize the ideas and there is no "yes" ringing in my head. Therefore, this page is really peculiar. 

Taming a dragon / Prijaukinti drakoną

Sunku patikėti, kad jau daugiau nei metus nebuvo nei vieno naujo įrašo mano bloge. Neapsiimu žadėti, kad grįšiu ir rašysiu dažnai, parašysiu, kai bus ką parašyti. :) Tyla nereiškia, kad visai nieko neveikiu (nors pripažįstu, ilgai beveik nieko neveikiau). 

Prieš porą mėnesių teko nupiešti drakoną. Apie jį ir sugalvojau papasakoti. O buvo taip: gavau prašymą nutapyti drakoną; savaitę apmąsčius, ar tikrai išeitų kas nors padoraus ir kas patiktų ir man ir užsakovei, vis dėlto apsisprendžiau bandyti. Dar savaitę ar daugiau bandžiau mintyse pagauti tą drakoną. Vis kartas nuo karto paišiau eskizus, peržiūrėjau daugybę drakonų paveikslėlių internete, rytietiškų, europietiškų, piktų ir gerų, perskaičiau aprašymus, ir jau beveik buvau praradusi viltį, kol beveik netyčia paišiau paišiau ir nupiešiau mažytį drakoną 4 x 4 cm kvadratėlyje ir iš karto supratau, kad drakonas yra ir skarelė bus. Nors galutinis variantas nelabai panašus į eskizą, bet jo užteko, kad mintyse imtų ryškėti vaizdas. Dingo tik sparnai: mano drakonas pakankamai stebuklingas, kad skraidytų ir be jų. Jis ir nešiepia dantų, kaip dauguma paveikslėliuose, nesinorėjo, kad moteris ant kaklo nešiotųsi apsivyniojusi įkąsti besiruošiantį drakoną, nors tai ir tik skarelė. Labiau tapo panašus į rytietišką (raudona spalva buvo užsakovės sąlyga) nes jie turi daugiau gerų savybių, negu europietiški mergeles ėdantys slibinai, - simbolizuoja sėkmę, turtą, galią, valdo gamtos stichijas. 

It is difficult to believe that there haven't been any new posts in my blog for more than a year now. I am not promising to come back and write more often, I will write when there will be what to tell. :) The silence does not mean that I am doing nothing (although I have to admit, I was doing nothing (speaking about painting) for quite a long time).

A couple of months ago I had drawn a dragon. I decided to tell about it. It went like this: I received a letter with a request to paint a dragon; after a week of thinking, whether I could really draw a decent dragon, which I myself and the customer would both like, I decided to try. It took me another week or a bit more to catch that dragon in my head. I kept drawing sketches when I had free minute, I searched for dragon pictures and descriptions on the internet, of dragons of all kinds: European and Asian, angry and good. I had almost lost hope when suddenly when drawing, I drew a little dragon in a 4 x 4 cm square and I understood that here is this dragon and there will be a scarf. 

The final dragon does not look exactly like the sketch, but this sketch was enough that the final picture would begin to develop in my mind. Just the wings disappeared: isn't my dragon enough magical to be able to fly without wings? It is as well not showing its teeth, I did not want a woman to carry around her neck a dragon that is ready to bite, even if it is only a scarf. And it turned out to be more like an Asian dragon (the red color was part of the order), because these dragons have more good qualities than European virgin eaters, they symbolize good luck, wealth, power, and also rule the powers of nature. 

Įgyvendintos istorijos / The stories that came true

Galbūt per daug poetiškas pavadinimas. Norėjau tiesiog parašyti apie paskutinius tris savo sukurtus šalikėlius. Visi jie buvo daryti pagal užsakymus, todėl ir kilo mintis aprašyti, ko gi žmonės iš manęs prašo ir kaip tai įgyvendinu. :)

Maybe the name of this post is too poetic. I only wanted to write about last three of my created scarves. From time to time it happens to me to make custom orders, and recently it was quite nice to have even three of them in line. That is why an idea came to me to write about what people ask from me and how I realize it. :)

Nr. 1. Keturlapiai dobilėliai / Four leaved clovers.

Šalikėlis "labai gerai draugei", todėl buvau paprašyta padaryti šviesias, linksmas spalvas, bei klientei labai patiko ornamentika šio šalikėlio . Daugiau užsakymas ir nebuvo detalizuotas, išskyrus dydį ir audinį, tačiau sekėsi interpretuoti gana gerai, ir rezultatas visiems patiko! :) Motyvas panašus į keturlapius dobilų lapelius turėjo kartu paslapčia nešti ir sėkmę turėtojui, ko dar galėtume linkėti "gerai draugei" ;)

The scarf, as was written to me "to a very good friend", I was asked to make something of bright, happy colors, the woman who ordered it wrote that she likes my detailed ornamentation, like in this scarf . There were no more details, except size and fabric type, but to make this was quite easy and the result pleased all! :) I have chosen something similar to four leaved clovers ornament, that the scarf would bring luck to the person who owns it ;)

Nr. 2. Gėlytės / Flowers

Šis užsakymas buvo šiek tiek konkretesnis. Labiausiai užsakovei patiko šis mano tapytas šalikėlis, tiek ornamentika, tiek spalvomis. Šalikėlis turėjo būti skirtas moteriai, kuriai patinka ryškios spalvos, įdomūs, originalūs gėlių motyvai ar ornamentai. Taigi, kadangi neįdomu tiesiogiai kopijuoti save, pabandžiau padaryti kartu panašų ir kitokį šalikėlį. :)

This order was a bit more detailed and concrete. The customer liked the most this scarf that I made some time ago for its ornamentation and colors as well. The scarf was meant to be given as a present to a woman who likes bright, vivid colors, original, interesting flower motives and ornaments. So, as it was not interesting to me copy myself, I tried to make the new scarf similar but at the same time different. :)

Nr. 3. Gyvybės medis / Tree of life


Labai įdomus ir įkvepiantis užsakymas (nors jie visi tokie). Užsakovė pasiūlė temą gyvybės medis ar visatos kiaušinis, turėjo būti kas nors susiję su lietuvių mitologija, tautosaka, gyvybės, gyvenimo simboliais, kadangi buvo skirtas pasveikinti tapus mama moterį, kuri tuo domisi. Kad galėčiau geriau įgyvendinti, netgi parsinešiau kelias knygeles P.Dundulienės apie gyvybės medžius ir kitus simbolius lietuvių tikėjimuose ir mene. Nežinau, ar tiesiogiai ką nors panaudojau, daugiau pasiklioviau savo nuojauta, nors buvo įdomu pasiskaityt.
Gal išmanantys tautosaką ir paneigs mano neprofesionalias interpretacijas, nors vis dėlto tai liaudies meno interpretacija, o aš irgi esu liaudis :). Pasistengiau įvesti šiek tiek "magijos", piešinyje motyvais ir jų skaičiais įkūnyti laiko tėkmę, gyvybės amžinumą ir atsinaujinimą. Pabandžiau įvesti sėkmę nešančius ir apsaugančius simbolius. Bet konkrečiai nepasakosiu, gal kam bus įdomu tyrinėjant piešinį tai atrasti. :)
Ir smagiausia buvo gauti gražų atsiliepimą iš skarelės naujos šeimininkės.

Very interesting and inspiring order (although they are all such). The customer suggested as the subject for drawing to use images of tree of life or world egg. It needed to be related to Lithuanian mythology, folklore, symbols of life and living, as it had to be a gift for a woman who recently became a mother, and who is interested in things mentioned before.
To realize better the idea I even took from the library some books by famous lithuanian ethnologist P.Dunduliene about tree of life and other symbols in lithuanian religion. I don't know if I directly used some of the information, after all I trusted my intuition. But it was interesting to get to know something new about the topic.
Maybe people who are specialist in lithuanian mythology or ethnology will deny or find silly my not professional interpretations, but it is folk art interpretation after all, right, so also folk like me can try to make it. :) I tried to bring some "magic" in this work. I tried to express the flow of time, the eternity of nature and life with the motives I used and numbers in which I grouped them. I tried to bring in as well symbols which bring luck and safeguard the person wearing them. But I will not write any more concrete details, maybe some of you will find it interesting to search for them in the drawing yourselves.
And the nicest moment was to get good feeback from the new owner of the scarf. :)
